As I mentioned in my post earlier, this in not going to be a long stay! Acute rehab is short term and measured by individual progress to justify insurance coverage and length of stay. So the pressure to perform and prove he is a good candidate for this well respected program at Helen Hayes is huge. I'm hoping family and friends can give Lance the emotional support he needs to work hard and make the necessary improvements required to justify and lengthen his stay.
I had to move a few mountains to get him this opportunity but it's only a 2 week Trial to see if he can meet specific goals at this stage of his recovery. Prayers are welcome but seeing familiar faces is what will give Lance that desire and inner strength to dig deep and prove he is a worthy candidate for their program. Lance needs this break! We hope they give him the maximum stay so he makes monumental gains before we have to move again.
